Most of our products (including the EnergyBar 250) use lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery technology. This makes our internal batteries very stable and non-hazardous (unlike other lithium-ions). Our technology has no thermal runoff – meaning these battieries will never overheat. Our battery pack also has a very long shelf life - up to 10 years - making it the most reliable portable power solution ever.

Both the SunSocket Solar Generator and the EnergyBar 250 have an Equivalent Lithium Content (ELC) of less than 25 grams. This allows them to be permitted under the rules of the Department of Transportation. For smooth traveling, it is advised to print documentation or information regarding the classification of our batteries with the Department of Transportation.

About This Technology

This technology allows the solar panels to automatically track the sunlight throughout the day. A common problem with current solar kits these days is that many users do not realize that solar panels need to face the sun to maximize their efficiency. If the sun moves behind the panels then their efficiency and power drop to almost zero. Even if the solar panels are placed flat on the ground or table, they will only provide power during the couple of hours that the sun is at it's peak position.

Our solar-tracking technology removes this problem, and positions the panels to the location of the highest intensity from the sun so that you always know that you are getting the most power that you can get. Leave the SunSocket solar generator outside while you are camping, or at a picnic, and know that you never have to move it.

About Our Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery

There are many different types of batteries available on the market. We use lithium iron phosphate “LiFePO4” which is the best portable battery available at the moment. Lead-acid batteries are quite common in portable solar solutions and are also cheaper. Unfortunately these batteries are also very heavy. For example, a 250-Watt lead-acid battery might weigh up to 18 pounds. Our entire generator, which has built in solar panels, a 250-Watt LiFePO4 battery as well as a hard metal case, has a combined weight of only 25 pounds. The downside is that lithium iron phosphate is much more expensive than the common lead-acid, but it is worth it. They also have a much longer life span compared to other lithium ion batteries.
